thoughts of a senior

Its here: Your final year. You are now a senior. You have been praying for this day to come Graduatewhile you struggled yourself through endless midterms, all-nighters, group projects from hell, and finals, and now its finally here. But you no longer want this day to come.

The day you realize that your life cant evolve around costume parties, beer-pong, game days, and taking 6 shots and staying up all night to see if you can get your crush to actually notice you. This is the day when you have to begin figuring out your life.

Just a year ago, it all seamed so far away. But now your college goodbye is waiting at your doorsteps. Soon post-college life will come knocking, and hopefully it wont completely knock you down.

These last four years of your life has broken your heart, served you C´s on your tests, made you gain 10 pounds, had you fight with you best friends, (as a member of sorority: given you lots of social probations..), thrown up your last shot of fireball and the domino you just ate. These years have had you tumble and fall, but it has also made you rise each and every time.

You have learned that when you heart is broken nothing can cure it like a hug from a friend (or a few drinks and texts from your other crush). That professors are people and that they want you to succeed, and that the C´s you get can with a lot of hard work turn into A´s. The pounds you gained may have made you more self conscious, but lets be real no one wants to look like a stick skinny freshman either, so I am sure you look way better with those pounds on (otherwise there is always the gym and low carb). And your best-friend will forgive you: Cause you are best-friends and its gonna come a day when she is gonna want you to forgive her to. For the throw up and Dominos: you just have to learn that the last shot you get is always a waste of money .. and so is Dominos 2 am..

We stumble and we fall and look forward to the day we suddenly are gonna turn into sophisticated individuals who loves drinking wine and go to art shows, but when senior year suddenly approaches: We realize its happening too soon. We wanna continue having Dominos at 2 am.

People dont one day wake up and realize they are adult human beings that now has to pay bills other than college tuition, its a process. We slowly grow into these people, and we do it through those epic nights out and the falls we have in life. Each time we fall and college life knocks us down, we had the courage to get up and grow up from it so that we hopefully dont repeat the same mistakes (if not we make the same stupid mistake until we DO learn).

Learning is growing, and throughout your life you are gonna learn and therefore you are gonna grow. If you managed to stand up after a night of endless stupidity and broken hearts, then you can manage to stand up and face adult life each day for the rest of your life.

So when post graduation and adult life do come knocking just know that you are gonna be ready, not because you have done it before, but because college taught you endless times to get up and fight for yourself, your friends, your grades, and your dreams. Believe me: you are more prepared than you think.

If not, then Dominos is always there.

Moving Away From Your Friends

I wanna address how it is to move away from your friends at home cause I get a lot of email regarding it.

9719_279190290106_4807493_n

Yea, its hard. Especially in the beginning. During my first year I missed my friends so much I was talking to them almost every day, and if I was not doing that then I was telling my new friends in the States about my friends back at home. In other words: If I was not talking to them, I was talking about them.

However, even though I love all my friends back home, I can honestly say that I have lost contact with a lot of them. First of all I am a bad at keeping in touch with people Facebook stresses me out, especially in the beginning cause Norway is 9 hours ahead and I ended up having 24 hours of non stop communication with friends at home and friends here. It just became too much and I had to cut down. Secondly, I ran out of stuff to talk to them about. I would try to explain boy problems or school stuff to them, but for people who have never even visited me and seen how I live and what I do every day it becomes hard because they simply cant relate. Moreover, I cant relate to them anymore.

A big gap grows between you cause you never see eachother and because your life has become so different. But mostly the gap also comes from the fact that you are growing into different people. What we do, what we experience, and the people we meet influence us more than we think. I have never regretted moving to the states and I do really appreciate all the people I have met and made friends with cause I feel they have all made me into a better person. But having all these new experiences with places and people have made me grow, and thereby changed me. I am no longer the same person I was when I first moved here, and I cant expect my friends to be the same people either.

We change, and that is totally normal and okay, but because of it and the distance a gap grows between us. Relationships are built upon experiences. Those long nights chatting with your best friend during a slumber party, or that fun trip you guys had, and that “one time at bandcamp”.. All of those fun and close experiences you guys had binds you together and the glue becomes “oh! do you remember that one time..”. Its experiences you can relate to and talk about, but once you no longer have that the glue weakens and a gap begins to grow.

Its natural, and it will most likely happen. But you will meet new people that are equally as nice, fun, smart and amazing as your best friends back home. Dont ever forget your old friends and all the fun you had with them, but acknowledge the fact that moving abroad will forever change your relationships.

During the whole time we were sober and to be honest partying while sober is kinda hard and I felt awkward the entire time.. Regardless of that, It was still so much fun! I got to meet an amazing production team and some amazing girls!

Also I chose to be in the video cause it was my friend who produced it and because the team making it was professional, and because the team of the movie was funny, and also because I explicitly told I would only be in the video if I dident have to be in a bikini.. I just wanna point that out!1899905_10152590977773916_833594059_nnon of these pictures are mine. They are all from Max Bards album.

My favorite places in LA

large[1]

La Conversation in West Hollywood: After a long night out there is nothing better than spending the morning eating an salmon Philadelphia omelet with an Americano at La Conversation. It looks like a little Parisian café with rude and unorganized waiters that forgets your order and barley speaks English: Its my little Paris in LA. While you are waiting for the food that takes forever (seriously, 40 min for an omelet?) you can enjoy the mini croissants, mini muffins and buns in cute little baskets. Terrible service, amazing food, great location and calm environment: Success!

Café Audrey in Hollywood: Amazing salads, ice coffees and bakeries. Eaten here a few times at its so nice and cozy and the coffee tastes more European than the regular too sweet American starbucks latte. It has great food, environment and service, however the location in the middle of Hollywood is not exactly ideal.

XIV: Its the perfect place to spend your Sunday if you are not ready for Monday. Its a summer party club that spurs hysteria every time it opens. Lots of champagne, costume events, and good music.

Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills: To work here you have to be a model.. and to get a table you should always reserve. Its a great restaurant with beautiful waiters, good food and amazing white overindulged interior.

Four Seasons Rodeo Dr: I love this hotel! It has a very posh atmosphere but the service is good. Enjoy a drink at the many bars or eat dinner in their nice restaurant. If you are lucky you might get invited into one of the weddings being held at the huge ballroom there.

Its been a while&its a whole new year soon

Merry christmas and happy new year to you all! Its been a while, but I can honestly not say that I will be back for certain. I hope certain aspects of my life will change in the new year so that I will be able to focus better at school and enjoy more time with friends than I have this past semester. Wish me luck darlings!

Last year I put out a list of all the things I wanted 2012 to contain, and omg a lot came true:

1: new apartment (wich was an absolute amazing place!)

2: celebrate 1 year with my boyfriend (yes, we did, even though we broke up a few months later I still cherish it)

3: Get into USC (OH YES!!! I DID GET IN hahah happiest moment of my life, actually following happiest month of my life!)

4: Travel with the best: ( Yes, yes, yes)

5: Keep up my GPA (I also did that)

6: Go to edinburgh: (no I dident, but I did go to Paris!)

Is been an amazing year folks, and I am ready for a new one. This past year introduced me to so many amazing people, and so many happy moments and new experiences. When I think back I can safely say it has been the best year of my life so far! What will the next year bring? I am going to post my new years wishes her a bit later, but for now: Thank you to all my followers and readers and everyone who just drops by in search of answers to their urge to travel abroad! I wish you all the best in the new year, and lets hope it will be a better, stronger, more beautiful, more enriching, more dazzling, fabulous, more radient, pleasureful, and full of adventures and moments of significance that take our complete breath away!

Happy New Year!
